Please see below for answers to our frequently asked questions.
- What is the goal of Step Into Swim?
At Step Into Swim, we are on a mission to create more swimmers. Step Into Swim is an initiative of the Pool & Hot Tub Alliance dedicated to promoting water safety and making waves in drowning prevention. Since 2012, Step Into Swim has funded swimming lessons for more than 330,000 children across the country – because we believe every child deserves access to swim education. 100% of donations fund swim lessons for children in underserved communities.
- How often can a swim lesson provider apply for a Step Into Swim grant?
Each program is eligible to receive one grant annually.
- What is the average amount of a Step Into Swim grant?
Grants range from $500 to $50,000 per location per year. To maximize impact nationwide, the average grant typically falls around $5,000.
- What is the average price per student Step Into Swim funding covers?
Our aim is to provide swim lessons to children at an average cost of $50-$100 per child. This is achieved through collaborative efforts with each program, covering a portion of the classes or camps for children.
- What do you look for in a grant recipient?
Step Into Swim endeavors to extend its reach to communities and individuals who might not otherwise have access to water safety education and swim lessons. We prioritize organizations that share this commitment to broadening access and impact.
- How long does a grant recipient have to complete the final grant report?
Grant reports should be submitted either when the funding is exhausted or at the conclusion of your program's season or camp. The entire grant report must be completed and submitted before applying for additional funding or grants.
